The Middle East is leading the world in integrating blockchain into the public sector, with most governments already working with the technology in some capacity. The BSV blockchain is making great headway in the region, and as Ahmed Yousif, the man leading the charge in the Middle East for BSV revealed, he’s just getting started.

Yousif was in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for LEAP 2022 where he moderated a number of panels, speaking to experts about how the Middle East can take a leap into the tech elite regions. He joined Becky Liggero for CoinGeek Backstage on the sidelines of the event to talk about BSV, blockchain education and more.

Yousif is the Middle East lead for the BSV Blockchain for Government Initiative at BSV blockchain’s association, a position he has held since 2021. The reason that the industry organization launched the initiative was because it realized the potential of Middle Eastern governments, Yousif believes.

“Middle Eastern governments are interested in digital transformation in general and blockchain in particular. [Due to] the massive data they have and the challenges they have from an integrity and trust perspective, they needed this type of technology,” he told CoinGeek Backstage.

These governments have been launching several projects to explore blockchain technology as they seek to establish a network that can support enterprise-level activity, giving BSV blockchain a clear edge over any other network.

Yousif noted that the projects, and blockchain integration in general, is still in its infancy in the Middle East. As such, education is critical to ensure that those in positions of power and influence are knowledgeable on the potential of blockchain.

The BSV Academy is one of the best platforms to acquire knowledge on Bitcoin and blockchain in general, and as Yousif revealed, the academy is already in talks with some government entities in the region to partner on blockchain education.

The BSV ecosystem was well represented at LEAP 2022, Yousif revealed. This included a presentation by enterprise-grade blockchain solutions provider nChain on data integrity on the blockchain as well as one on blockchain-based invoicing and payment solutions by Muhammad Salman Anjum, Chief Mate at BSV-powered InvoiceMate.

“We had all these amazing speakers from the BSV ecosystem who came and presented use cases that actually, are very effective in this region,” Yousif said.
