Internet Protocol version 6 or IPv6 is seeking to usher in the next era of the internet. In combination with blockchain technology, it could be the biggest revolution the world has seen in decades. This is according to Latif Ladid, who tells CoinGeek Backstage he believes this revolution will be bigger than the advent of wireless internet.

Ladid is the chair of the 5G World Alliance as well as the president of the IPv6 Forum. He joined CoinGeek Backstage host Becky Liggero on the sidelines of the Global IEEE 5G-IoT Blockchain Summit, which was held in Morocco. He was one of the speakers at the event alongside the likes of Dr. Craig Wright and the BSV Blockchain Association Founding President Jimmy Nguyen.

For Ladid, IPv6 is a great passion that pushes him every day, “and if you have such a passion for something, you never have to work a day in your life.”

He stated that IPv6’s integration with blockchain technology is one of the advances that will define this generation.

“It’s bigger than the wireless internet revolution,” he said.

One of the people who share Ladid’s passion for IPv6 is Dr. Wright. As he has revealed on several occasions, IPv6 was originally included in Bitcoin as he envisioned a world where peer-to-peer connections and interactions were not limited by the constraints of the internet. However, when he stepped away and left other developers in charge of Bitcoin, IPv6 was among the first things they stripped off.

Ladid said he found out about Dr. Wright from his research into IPv6, and he sent him an email on the same. “I got a reply within 5 minutes, and I know that he doesn’t respond to anyone.” Since then, they have been working together to push IPv6 and BSV blockchain ahead and have headlined several events together.

Ladid has nothing but praise and admiration for Satoshi. For one, he admires how Dr. Wright wants to be an eternal student, which Ladid finds “pretty rare for someone who should be running his own companies. He is very disciplined and has no time for nonsense.”

IPv6 has its fair share of challenges and impediments. However, Ladid believes that they pale in comparison to what the current Internet protocol, IPv4, faced in its early days.

The first major step towards making IPv6 the ubiquitous Internet protocol is through education. Ladid has been spearheading a series of events through which he has been spreading the word about why the world needs IPv6. He revealed that he has more events lined up in the future in Japan, the United States, and Canada.
