Filipino entrepreneurs embrace Block Dojo Philippines

Four visionaries converge with a shared mission: to breathe life into their business visions. Block Dojo Philippines emerges as the conduit, offering a program to equip founders with the necessary tools and mentorship to kickstart their startups.

Initiating its operations in Bataan, Block Dojo Philippines jumpstarts the 12-week incubator program with a five-day boot camp. This milestone marks the fruition of a promise made by nChain, a global frontrunner in blockchain technology, to empower Filipino startups.

Block Dojo will provide each of the four startups with a PHP 500,000 ($8,931) pre-seed investment, serving as the catalyst for their entrepreneurial journey. Block Dojo Philippines Managing Director Kristoffer Briones emphasizes their unique approach, stating, “We invest usually more in the founder at this stage.”

Echoing Briones’ sentiment, Dominic Santiago, Head of Marketing at Block Dojo Philippines, highlights the program’s focus on nurturing founders alongside their startups.

“Block Dojo is one of the few accelerator programs that allow growth not just for your start-up but for the founder itself,” Santiago affirms.

Co-founders Saida and Jiego Tanchanco’s platform Nyoom gamifies fleet management through blockchain technology. Jiego articulates their mission, stating, “Our mission in Nyoom is to alleviate traffic problems here in the Philippines by promoting safe driver behaviors as well as incentivizing high-performing drivers.”

Arvin Torres introduces his platform, “Celebrity Greenbox,” a marketplace leveraging
blockchain for the authentication of pre-loved items belonging to celebrities. Explaining the platform’s utility, Torres elaborates, “With the help of blockchain, we introduce blockchain technology with NFTs but with more utilities.”

Jaimee Ligan, drawing from her extensive experience as a real estate broker, envisions
blockchain revolutionizing payment processes and transaction security within the industry. Ligan envisions blockchain as a solution to streamline transactions and mitigate mistrust among stakeholders.

Warren Joseph Moises advocates for blockchain integration in educational institutions
through his company, AllSchool. Moises underscores the significance of blockchain in enhancing student record security and privacy.

Stephanie Tower, business development lead – Philippines at nChain, expresses enthusiasm for Block Dojo’s entry into the Philippine landscape, affirming its potential to catalyze digital transformation within the country.

“We have always been supportive of Block Dojo, and it’s one of the, if not the largest, most successful blockchain incubator program in Europe, and now it’s here in the Philippines empowering our creative minds.”

With nChain’s support, Filipino entrepreneurs embark on a transformative journey that will help redefine the nation’s role in the Web3 world. Stay tuned as we follow the first group of cohorts through their 12-week journey, exploring the boundless opportunities presented by blockchain technology.
