While the blockchain headlines may have been dominated by price action and legal dramas, 2024 was a year of noteworthy achievements for the BSV ecosystem. Away from the limelight, significant technical milestones were reached, and new connections were forged.

Let’s take a look at some BSV highlights for 2024.

CERTIHASH Sentinel Node averages 100k transactions daily

One of the most successful BSV applications is Sentinel Node by CERTIHASH. The next-generation cybersecurity tool takes snapshots of computer network states and logs them immutably on the BSV blockchain.

Sentinel Node averaged 100,000 daily transactions this year and logged its 56 millionth state by November. Showcasing how blockchain can enhance data integrity, the CERTIHASH team continued to build toward its aim of being a full suite of blockchain-based cybersecurity tools.

sCrypt shows them how it’s done

For those who don’t know, sCrypt is a smart contract and Web 3.0 development platform. Throughout 2024, it hosted various hackathons and meetups to enhance development in the BSV ecosystem.

However, sCrypt also participated in hackathons organized by others, and it showcased its technical expertise on multiple occasions. At the Bitcoin Olympics Hackathon, it won the Litecoin Track by leveraging simplified payment verification (SPV) and OP_CAT to purchase BTC Ordinals tokens with Litecoin.

This was another example of how BSV’s technical expertise is ahead of the competition. In 2023, we saw how many of BSV’s leading developers were leaps and bounds ahead when Ordinals began to trend, and some of the leading wallets and platforms in that ecosystem had been developed before others had even figured it out.

The London Blockchain Conference brought great minds together

While previous CoinGeek and London Blockchain Conferences have been heavily focused on the BSV blockchain, this year marked a significant departure from that trend. Thought leaders, developers, and entrepreneurs from across the blockchain ecosystem attended to present, share, and mingle.

The LBC 2024 covered everything from smart contracts to interoperability to private vs public blockchains. It touched on blockchain governance, business use cases, cybersecurity, digital asset recovery, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), compliance, and the bigger picture of where blockchain is headed.

Some incredible speakers attended, including Professor Scott Galloway and podcasting sensation Steven Bartlett, among others. Aside from these noteworthy speakers, the conference was packed with BSV entrepreneurs and developers sharing updates on Sentinel Node, Champions TCG card game, and the quest to scale to global levels with Teranode.

Teranode development and testing

Going into 2025, the most significant thing BSVers are waiting for is the official launch of Teranode. 2024 saw lots of development, collaboration, and testing. We got frequent updates from the team, including an in-depth interview with Siggi Óskarsson on the CoinGeek Weekly Livestream.

Teranode is set to launch on Mainnet in Q1 2025, and it will be a game-changer. With the ability to process one million transactions per second with massively enhanced efficiency, Teranode could enable the enterprise and government applications many have been waiting for.

In any case, scaling to one million on-chain transactions per second will mean the industry can no longer ignore BSV. With tiny fees of $0.000001 per transaction, all kinds of new business models will be possible at scale.

2024 was a year of quiet building and technical progress. Think of it as laying the foundations for building a skyscraper in 2025 and beyond. With the year officially behind us, let’s continue to build and look forward to an exciting year ahead on BSV!
