The Philippines has big goals in this global digital era, and one of those pursuits is to introduce Web3 to all Filipinos.

Early this year, BlockchainSpace and Smart Communications announced their partnership to ignite Web3 in the Philippines. The press conference welcomed the movers and shakers of the blockchain space as well as government agencies like the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to witness how the two leading companies plan to bring the emerging technology to the service of millions of Filipinos.

BlockchainSpace CEO Peter Ing said the market is already mature given the growing number of individuals working in the industry. Now, the BlockchainSpace CEO shared they “are working on a lot of different initiatives right now” and are “looking [for] support” as they bring their Web3 solutions to the country’s creator economy.

Lloyd Manaloto, First Vice President for Prepaid and Content at Smart Communications, describes the partnership with BlockchainSpace as a massive step for the telecommunication firm.

“This partnership is a milestone for us because it allows us to explore, unlock the various potential of Web3. We’ve talked about the hype; the future now is unlocking more and more verticals that will help us take advantage of this emerging technology,” he said.

Also present at the event was DICT’s Director Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin, who shared the agency’s mandate: to provide digital connectivity to every Filipino.

“The DICT [is] at the heart of the digital revolution, and we’re proud to align our mission with the ambitious goals of BlockchainSpace and Smart communications. We at DICT are committed to existing initiatives and recalibrating our priorities with the dynamic landscape of the developing Web 3.0 and the blockchain industry,” she said.

Overall the event was a huge success and ended with Ing’s remark that this kind of partnership indicates that adopting emerging technologies such as the Web3 will bring a massive wave of opportunities for Filipinos.

“[Smart] looking into web3 is an indicator that mainstream adoption is probably around the corner,” he said.
