Dev teams assemble in China to build apps for Bitcoin Cash
An event unlike any other in the cryptocurrency space has just wrapped up in Hangzhou, China. From June 1 to 3, over 100 programmers descended on the city for the “BCH Geek,” a three-day event focusing on the development of applications for Bitcoin Cash, news.bitcoin.com first reported. The occasion was a huge success, with a number of new applications being developed specifically for the BCH network.
The event, designed to make “Bitcoin Cash available to all,” saw participation by developers who created prototypes, research and applications built using the BCH blockchain. Companies such as Bitmain Technologies, BTC.top and ViaBTC were also reportedly in attendance. BCH Geek was organized by a Chinese blockchain video portal, Chongqing TED.CC, as well as others in the BCH community.
Over 11 teams participated in developing the applications. One group, Mempool, created a browser plug-in based on BCH that integrates with the Status Code 402 protocol and HTTP (hyper-text transfer protocol). Status Code 402 is a “payment required” protocol that can be used with digital cash or a micropayment scheme.
Another new development is a BCH-based authenticator created by a team from ViaBTC. The authenticator can synchronize across several devices and store data. It doesn’t require the use of a server and data is easily restored.
A decentralized on-chain 1v1 quiz app called Token Dice was developed by a team who goes by the name “Gon.” The developers employed the OP_Code “OP_DATASIGNVERIFY” to build the platform. The group also created a password management app tied to the BCH blockchain.
BCH Geek wasn’t just about coding. Speakers such as Jiang Zhuoer, founder of BTC.top, and Bitkan co-founder Edward Liu were on hand to talk about new innovation in the BCH industry. They addressed several platforms that are being introduced, such as Cointext, Memo and Blockpress, that are shaking up the industry.
With the “meeting of the minds,” there was a lot of innovation. However, it also went much further. Events such as this help to move the mechanics forward and invariably lead to new ideas and ventures that will help BCH grow. As developers continue to work with the blockchain and explore its capabilities, BCH will be able to move ahead at a rapid pace and offer a number of solutions not found with other digital currencies or their networks.
Note: Tokens on the Bitcoin Core (segwit) Chain are Referred to as BTC coins. Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) is today the only Bitcoin implementation that follows Satoshi Nakamoto’s original whitepaper for Peer to Peer Electronic Cash. Bitcoin BSV is the only major public blockchain that maintains the original vision for Bitcoin as fast, frictionless, electronic cash.
