BSV-powered Astro Apes: ‘New age’ collectibles appealing to broad group of people

I had the opportunity to conduct an interview Miles from Astro Apes, a collection of one-of-a-kind non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the BSV blockchain. Astro Apes NFTs will grant member’s only like benefits, as well as cater to the conservation of Great Apes via the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.

Why choose Apes and space as the themes of the generative NFTs?

Miles: We believe Apes appeal to a broad group of people. Our hope is that this project can become a good gift or kind of ‘new age’ collectible for someone who doesn’t know anything about BSV or ‘crypto’ and just loves apes, conservation of the planet, etc. The space theme is just something the artists on the team felt like pursuing in this first collection.

How will the Ape NFTs be randomly generated?

Miles: Each individual trait and body variation jpg is put into a program with an attached ‘rarity %.’ The program produces the number of characters we want and gives us a data sheet with all the specs from that collection!

What are the specifics of how the sales of the NFTs contribute to conservation of Apes around the world?

Miles: 10% of all initial sales, 25% of ongoing royalties, and 50% of farming yield will go into a community wallet for “donations and adoptions” taking place every month!

How is the rarity of various traits determined?

Miles: We set an individual ‘rarity %’ but have no control on how they combine with other traits during the random generation.

Will Astro Apes use the same hidden and reveal mechanism that the Gopniks used for their initial sale?

Miles: Yes, but our Apes are ‘crashing into BSV’ in Asteroids!

Will the metadata of the various traits be on-chain and linked to the actual NFT?

Miles: Yes, all metadata will be linked on-chain and attached to every Astro Ape.

Do the traits have further attributes, or do they solely represent the traits in the image?

Miles: As of now they just represent the traits in the image, but again we would LOVE to attach attributes for future use cases, maybe NFTYJigs? Again, we’d love to bring someone onto the team that could help us with these things, please reach out Twitter or via email! ([email protected])

What is the role and mechanics of the Space Bananas token?

Miles: Space Bananas will be the official token of Astro Apes. Tokens will be airdropped to holders once a month (‘x’ amount per ape, no rarity factor). These tokens will be used for a variety of things inside the community including, ‘crazy’ ape drops, member merch, ‘build-an-Ape’ function and hopefully much more as the project grows.

How will the ‘AA (Astro Apes) yield farming’ work?

Miles: The farming direction will be community driven; we will start a discussion after the initial sale to see how the community would like to allocate funds.

Which platform will yield farming launch on?

Miles: TokenSwap.

Could you highlight the differences between the Genesis batch of 75 vs. the Base Collection of 1,000?

Miles: The point of the genesis collection is to spotlight the rare traits that will be used in the base collection. Genesis apes will only have 1 rare trait each, whereas in the base collection you could have apes with 5+ rare traits.

Will the Genesis batch be initially priced differently than the Base Collection?

Miles: The Genesis batch will be priced at 1 BSV each. Base collection will be .5 BSV.

Thank you, Miles, for taking the time to answer my questions. I hope the readers learned more about the Astro Apes project. Ape filled asteroids go on sale at RelayX.com on November 26.
