The AIBC Summit in Manila was a great success, with some of the leaders in blockchain, gaming, and artificial intelligence (AI) converging with government officials to talk about the future of these technologies in the Philippines. The event revealed just how passionate Filipinos are about Web3, conference producer Olga Yaroshevsky tells CoinGeek Backstage.
AIBC World is a global events organization focused on the blockchain, digital assets, and AI industries. With the Philippines being a global leader in the gaming sector, the inaugural event in the capital city attracted thousands of attendees and an elite lineup of speakers.
“It [Philippines] is a real hotbed. We thought this would be a really good opportunity to introduce the guys who are in the gaming industry to blockchain and cryptocurrency because there’s so much overlap,” stated Neil Ford, the head of business development at AIBC World.
The event received overwhelming support, both from the private and public sectors, Ford added. This included the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), the country’s gaming watchdog, with Chairman Alejandro Tengco among the speakers.
“We had a stellar lineup of speakers…it was so exciting. We covered all things crypto, blockchain, AI, metaverse, Web3—anything that drives digital innovation,” Yaroshevsky added.
In addition to the keynote presentations and the panel discussions, the event offered key government officials an opportunity to address questions from the attendees on industry regulations.
“We had a SEC Commissioner answering questions from the public and communicating about crypto adoption and the infrastructure for digital assets locally and globally. That’s fantastic, it’s why we do events like this,” Yaroshevsky told CoinGeek Backstage reporter Claire Celdran.
AIBC World’s events are intended to build communities that span beyond state borders, bringing the global digital asset community together. This is what decentralization is all about, says Yaroshevsky.
“Filipinos are really passionate about Web3,” she added.
