Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have been one of the hit topics on Day 2 of the CoinGeek New York in October. SmartLedger co-founder and CEO Shawn Ryan was one of the conference speakers who joined the panel explaining what NFTs are for and what could be improved in this technology.

On the sidelines of the event, Ryan joined CoinGeek Backstage host Patrick Thompson to talk about his company and their latest project, TicketMint.

SmartLedger is a dedicated blockchain distribution channel, which aims to help its clients to implement customized strategies using blockchain technology. According to Ryan, the channel came to fruition just about a year ago when he and his co-founder Bryan Daugherty talked about the potential of the BSV blockchain and what they can do with it.

“Looking at the [BSV] ecosystem and seeing what was out there. We saw that there was a technology arm and chain and the transaction arm, but there wasn’t really a space that could package the ecosystem to bring it to mainstream market,” explained Ryan.

Currently, SmartLedger has partnered with 10 applications and continues to develop partnerships within the ecosystem. Some of the partnerships include promotion marketplace TonicPow and Transmira, the developer behind the first XR platform, Omniscape. SmartLedger is also providing solutions to businesses in more than 20 countries across the globe.

“Our goal is to reach out to mainstream business as consultants. With our background, we understand a lot where blockchain fits in and applies to mainstream industry. By utilizing our partners and their applications, we’re going to put together customized solutions. That’s our goal to get some adoption going in mainstream market,” Ryan said.

SmartLedger’s most recent project, “TicketMint,” is a blockchain NFT ticketing system that provides real-world entry into the metaverse. TicketMint brings the two worlds of ticketing and blockchain NFTs together with an aim to empower artists, venues, and management by reducing massive charges from third-party ticket resellers.

“I’m sure you’ve gone to an event as well where you tried to get tickets from the original ticket issue or maybe Ticketmaster only to find out they were sold out. You had to buy it for double the price on a third-party reseller. With TicketMint technology, we are able to give the event management and the artists granular control over their sales so they can completely eliminate third-party ticket gouging,” noted Ryan.

Ryan believes that TicketMint has all the functionality of the current smart ticketing systems, “but it adds a layer of functionality and brings a lot of new innovation to the industry,” he said.

As for his general takeaway for the audience, Ryan admitted that blockchain technology could come as confusing for any mainstream industry looking to adopt it, but SmartLedger can be their one-stop source to find the information and solution that they need.

“First and foremost, I think the blockchain ecosystem can be confusing for any mainstream industry looking to adopt. So, I think what I would like them to know is that SmartLedger is a one-stop source to really find all the information you need. We provide information access and expertise,” he said.
