Held at a time when most of the world was in a lockdown, CoinGeek Live 2020 went on to become the biggest Bitcoin conference to date. The event was broadcast from London and New York studios, with attendees from across the world. In the Caribbean island of Antigua, some of the leaders of the public and private sectors came together at a watch party for the event. CoinGeek caught up with them as they shared their experience and what excites them most about Bitcoin.
The Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda, Gaston Browne, is one of the people most excited about what the future holds for the Bitcoin and blockchain industry. Speaking to CoinGeek, Browne noted that he believes Bitcoin SV is best suited for integration by his government as it offers transparency and scalability that no other blockchain protocol does.
Browne singled out Dr. Craig Wright’s presentation at CoinGeek Live as enlightening, stating that it had offered more insight into how Bitcoin SV allows the government to police the industry against nefarious actors.

Bitcoin is the future of finance, Aziza Lake told CoinGeek. Aziza, member of the Senate in the island nation, believes that finance has been steadily evolving, from barter trading to fiat currency and then credit cards. It’s now time for Bitcoin, she stated.
Aziza praised CoinGeek Live, stating that it gives the ordinary people the opportunity to learn more about digital currencies.
“I think, for a lot of people, it [Bitcoin] can seem like this abstract thing that tech people are talking about that has nothing to do with them. By the time that they pay attention to it, it would have advanced to another level.”
Bitcoin goes above being just electronic cash and allows even the regulators to have a better handle on the finance industry, N’Kenge Drew observed. Drew, an Antiguan UX designer, believes that Bitcoin will “ease a lot of the stress on financial regulatory entities such as the ONDCP (Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy) and the FSRC (Financial Services Regulatory Commission).”
For Louis Rivera, an international trade specialist who attended the watch party, CoinGeek Live achieved a great feat—managing to bring together almost all the industries that will benefit from the technology.
“Normally, you don’t have a platform or event bringing together the different types of companies and businesses that could benefit from one particular blockchain. This is the first time I’ve experienced something like this.”
Rivera further noted that Antigua & Barbuda could become a global hub for blockchain technology if the private and public sectors work together to advance it locally.
