Home to over 600 million people and with an economy valued at $3 trillion, Southeast Asia has become one of the world’s fastest-growing fintech hubs. The upcoming Philippine Fintech Festival will shine a spotlight on the region’s rapid digital payments revolution, with many of the region’s industry leaders set to take to the stage to chart the future of digital payments in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.

The event will be held on October 17-21 in Makati City, Philippines, with the theme centered on designing an anti-fragile world powered by digital payments.

Southeast Asia has emerged as the global digital asset hub, with Vietnam ranking first globally for digital asset adoption in a recent study. The Philippines ranked right behind it in second, with Thailand and Indonesia also ranking in the top 20.

Beyond digital assets, the region has also seen rapid adoption of other digital payment solutions, including mobile wallets. In the Philippines, GCash and Maya have continued to onboard millions, with the former hitting 66 million (over two-thirds of the population) in Q2 this year.

This evolution in digital payments will be one of the key topics at the four-day event. Some of the speakers who will take to the stage include Coins.PH chief executive officer (CEO) Wei Zhou, PDAX CEO and cofounder Nichel Gaba, and GCash chief information officer Mark Frogoso.

With the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) licensing six digital banks to commence operations this year, the sector will also be a key topic of discussion. Arvie De Vera, the CEO of UnionDigital; UNO Digital Bank founder and CEO Manish Bhai; and Tonik Bank’s Greg Krasnov will all take to the stage to offer their insight. All three were authorized earlier this year to offer digital banking services.

In addition to the captivating and insightful presentations and panel discussions, developers can take part in a Web3 hackathon.

The event will be held at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City. You can book your ticket here.
