In a move that is sure to increase awareness of the blockchain and cryptocurrency sectors, it appears as though the West Ham United Football Club has partnered with Socios.com, a blockchain-based fan engagement platform.

Socios is a unique mobile app for football fans. It allows them to gain voting rights and influence decisions made within specific football clubs. The platform boasts access to unique rewards and exclusive benefits, while also urging users to “be more than fan”. Users can buy, earn, and hunt fan tokens on the app, and those tokens vary in value based on the demand from fans worldwide.\

This is the first partnership between Socios and a Premier League club. The platform has previously partnered with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, two well-known European football clubs.
Socios will introduce the Official Fan Token of West Ham United. The Fan Token Offering (FTO) will occur before the start of the 2019/2020 season. West Ham United has almost 1.5 million Twitter followers and over 2 million likes on its Facebook page, and is ranked 11th in the Premier League.

The Socios Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Emma Diskin, praised the fact that they were able to partner with West Ham United. Diskin said:

“With one of the most passionate and engaged fan bases in the Premier League, West Ham United is a forward-thinking club that can maximise the potential of what fan voting and Fan Tokens can offer both fans and clubs by building better engagement for football fans.”

Football remains the most popular sport in the world with billions of fans, so this might be a great publicity move for the cryptocurrency markets in general.

The CEO and founder of Socios, Alexander Dreyfus, made it clear that these partnerships were all part of a larger plan. Dreyfus added that their overall goal was to build “the world’s biggest global football community” as well. He added: “We’re building a strong eco-system of top-tier clubs from the best and most exciting leagues across the world” and added that he was proud that West Ham United was involved.
