Amsterdam, 22 June 2023 – mintBlue, a Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform, has partnered with Sumthing, a trailblazer in connecting organisations to nature restoration projects, to bring unprecedented transparency for impact initiatives. Their collaborative efforts aim to address the pressing need for accountability and trust in nature restoration by leveraging the blockchain for a transparent order processing and fulfillment.

Nature restoration projects have faced significant scrutiny due to concerns surrounding transparency and accuracy in carbon crediting initiatives. In response to these pressing challenges, mintBlue has taken a proactive approach by introducing a public data protocol to collaboratively work on nature restoration.

This groundbreaking solution empowers initiatives to collaborate on a shared public platform where ecosystem actors can collaboratively work to share projects to restore nature as well as share orderflow. The public blockchain guarantees a trustworthy and immutable record of the whole process.

“mintBlue showed us how easy it is to leverage the blockchain to drive trust,” stated Gijs Schuringa, Chief Commercial Officer of Sumthing. “Sumthing’s mission is to make nature restoration accessible, engaging, and meaningful to everyone. Creating trust among the entire customer journey is one of our core promises. As a result of this collaboration with mintBlue, people can now transparently donate to nature restoration projects, without dealing with the underlying complexities of the blockchain.”

The collaboration with Sumthing carries immense significance for mintBlue’s services. mintBlue’s protocol offers a turnkey solution for social initiatives, enabling them to leverage the blockchain to address data challenges and create a transparent ecosystem.

To harness the true potential of the public blockchain, mintBlue applied ‘protocol thinking’. This implies it’s not a one-off implementation. The public protocol is now accessible to anyone to hook into to collaborate on the sourcing and fulfillment of nature restoration projects.

mintBlue provides an easy way to access and leverage the public blockchain’s protocol. The protocol does the same; enable interoperability between stakeholders to ensure a verifiably ecological footprint. Anyone can integrate the nature restoration protocol within their ecommerce checkout, their SAAS, or transaction processor with a couple of clicks. This provides an easy way for initiatives to reach their impact goals as well as proof their contributions as real and authentic.

“We are thrilled to partner with Sumthing in our shared mission to bring transparency,” said Niels van den Bergh, CEO of mintBlue. “Our protocol enables initiatives to address the pressing need for accountability and trust in social initiatives. By leveraging the power of the blockchain, we can make a significant impact on the nature restoration efforts.”

This partnership also underscores mintBlue’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The underlying blockchain protocol that mintBlue uses not only ensures transparency and accountability but is also environmentally friendly, consuming significantly less energy compared to other blockchains. By exemplifying the potential of the blockchain in nature restoration projects mintBlue and Sumthing hope to inspire other initiatives to adopt the blockchain, fostering a more transparent and sustainable future.

About mintBlue

mintBlue was founded in January 2022 and since then its mission has been to empower individuals and organisations to take absolute control of their data. mintBlue is a Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform that provides an incredibly easy to use code base for adding blockchain features and benefits to existing infrastructure. The platform’s blockchain development suite removes the complexity of blockchain technology so that organisations can focus on their own solution and business logic, instead of investing resources into building it from scratch. mintBlue specialises in fully compliant, patent-protected blockchain technologies and works with professional data centres. The technology has been endorsed by multiple universities as the best option for implementing blockchain. In fact, the Central Bank of Norway has determined that mintBlue’s underlying blockchain protocol is the most suitable option for a national digital currency, and can handle more transactions than all other operational blockchains combined. mintBlue’s international reach currently provides enterprise services across Europe, and is accessible globally. Those services include immutable storage, eInvoicing solutions, document authentication, data provenance, and more.

About Niels van den Bergh

Niels is one of The Next Web’s top 500 most talented tech talents under 30 in The Netherlands, and has 10 years of experience in both digital marketing and the tech industry. Before founding mintBlue in 2022, Niels worked as Head of Growth at Growth Mechanics, for clients such as Google, MAN, WERK1 and YUNUS. After this experience, Niels worked as a strategic advisor for Dyme, a PSD2 open banking app. Niels became familiar with blockchain while doing research to serve his innovative clients with a tailored accelerator program for this new technology. Doing research it became clear to him that much of the industry is a smokescreen, and the technology was immature and not ready for commercialization. After analysing hundreds of projects, he concluded that the original blockchain technology, invented in 2008, was capable of handling everything it claimed. This empowered him to delve deeper and eventually create mintBlue, a platform that enables enterprise organisations to easily build value-add solutions with blockchain.
