Taking a vacation or keeping your Netflix account active just got a little easier. Bitrefill, a flexible platform that allows cryptocurrencies to be used to purchase a variety of services at “more than 1,800 businesses in 170 countries,” is now introducing a new service that enables the use of digital currencies to purchase AirBnB and Netflix gift cards.
Bitrefill’s AirBnB cards are standard AirBnB gift cards for which Bitrefill facilitates the purchase using crypto such as Bitcoin Core (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and others. Currently, the gift card is available only to be redeemed by U.S. residents using a U.S.-based payment method, but additional support is expected to be added going forward. The cards are not valid for stays of more than 28 nights and can be purchased in denominations of $25, $50 or $100.
According to a recent blog post on the site, Bitrefill states about its Netflix integration, “Great news — We’re excited to roll out support for a highly requested service: Netflix! Subscriptions with the world’s largest streaming service can now be purchased and renewed with Bitcoin, Lightning, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, and Dogecoin.”
The Netflix subscription service is reportedly available for either U.S. or European Netflix users. Netflix gift cards can be purchased for $25, $30 or $50 for U.S. customers and €15, €25, and €50 for European customers.
While having to purchase a gift card to be able to spend crypto assets may not be the ideal solution, it is at least a step in the right direction. There are a number of services available today that will allow crypto fans to be able to spend their digital currency as cash, while helping the entire crypto ecosystem gain additional support. In the end, purchasing a gift card and then making an online purchase with that card only adds about two minutes to the shopping experience.
Bitrefill offers the ability to refill prepaid phone accounts, purchase gift cards to sites such as Amazon, Best Buy, Nike, Walmart and other retailers and even to a number of restaurants, including, in the U.S., The Cheesecake Factory, Chipotle and Chili’s. It is available in other countries around the world, as well, with services varying depending on the country.
