Singapore, 3 Nov – Hona Pte Ltd (“Honā”) is excited to announce that it has successfully secured its first investment from Draper University Ventures, after winning first place in Draper University’s Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship program in August. The funds will be used to support the app development of Honā; a social accountability platform leveraging behavioral economics and blockchain technology.
The new investment will enable Honā to accelerate its mission to improve accountability in the world, one commitment at a time, especially for remote workers seeking improved productivity and motivation. Community is a key area of focus for Honā, with beta users having already pre-purchased memberships at hona.io. The funding will also support marketing and research efforts.
George Siosi Samuels, founder of Honā, shares: “We’re really excited about joining Tim Draper’s investment portfolio, which includes the likes of Tesla, SpaceX, Telegram, Robinhood, Coinbase, and more. But more importantly, we’re excited about the opportunity to expand our vision of improving accountability in the world. Having validated our idea with paying customers, we knew we were onto something. And when we won the pitching competition, it only confirmed our hunches. Remote workers are a growing population due to Covid-19. Procrastination is something almost everyone struggles with, and online privacy is a growing concern due to mass distrust. We believe our solution can help address these key issues.”
Andrew Tang, CEO of Draper University shares: “We are excited to back George and Honā to enable people to reach their full potential by meeting their short and long term goals. Draper University Ventures was started to support our alumni with early stage capital and we are excited to be a part of Honā’s journey.”
