Recently, Bryan Daugherty was featured on The Cyber Pro Podcast, a show that features IT and Cyber Security professionals and explores the reasons they are attracted to these industries, the problems that the industries suffer from, and the solutions they are building.

Daugherty’s expertise in these fields comes from his past career experiences, his current position as chairman and co-founder of SmartLedger, and his passion for cybersecurity.

“Cybersecurity is one of these topics that is near and dear to my heart,” Daugherty said.

“I’m a strong proponent of data integrity, and I really think that cybersecurity is one of the foremost issues that any business or individual has to face on a day-to-day basis. [Today] Cybersecurity attacks are deeper, they are harder, they are more prominent, so really trying to find a solution that really solves these problems for businesses and individuals is something that motivates me greatly,” he added.

This is one of the reasons that Daugherty started SmartLedger, the enterprise blockchain development house that created the Certihash sentinel node, a cybersecurity detection tool that will significantly reduce the overall time it takes to identify a data breach.

Certihash accomplishes this because it is built on a distributed infrastructure with a decentralized network of nodes, allowing the system to be robust and report data in real-time while eliminating a central point of failure.

“Blockchain is one of these technologies that I feel mitigates a lot of the information security issues that are prominent today, and I would advise any cyber security professional to delve in and really start to understand proof-of-work consensus vs. proof-of-stake and the security mechanisms of a distributed timestamped server that’s public and permissionless,” Daugherty said.

Daugherty encourages the audience to take the technologies that inherently provide resilient security and to start integrating them into technology stacks. Daugherty and the team at SmartLedger have done this using the BSV blockchain and have begun using it in their solutions to increase the security and efficiencies of the systems they are building.

You can learn more about why Daugherty spends his time and energy working on blockchain-based cybersecurity solutions by watching the 200th episode of The Cyber Pro Podcast, “Bryan Daugherty – Co-Founder, Chairman, Tech Advisor – SmartLedger.”
