The Bitcoin Association for BSV, the Switzerland-based global non-profit industry organisation that supports the use of the Bitcoin SV blockchain, is pleased to announce the appointment of Marcin Zarakowski as its new Managing Director.

Bitcoin Association is a non-profit association (Verein) based in Switzerland and the global industry organisation which advances Bitcoin SV (BSV). It brings together enterprises, start-up ventures, developers, merchants, exchanges, service providers, blockchain transaction processors (miners), and others in the Bitcoin SV ecosystem.

The Association supports Bitcoin SV as the original Bitcoin, with a stable protocol and massive scaling roadmap to becoming the world’s new money and global blockchain for enterprise. The organisation seeks to build a regulation-friendly ecosystem that fosters lawful conduct while encouraging digital currency and blockchain innovation.

Introducing, Marcin Zarakowski, Bitcoin Association’s new Managing Director

Zarakowski comes with several years of leadership and blockchain experience, having previously served as the Bitcoin Association’s General Counsel and Chief of Staff. He is an attorney-at-law in Poland specialising in IP law, IT law, and data protection (CIPP/E), with significant knowledge of various legal aspects of blockchain technology. He is also a certified Swiss startup board member and University of Cambridge Executive MBA candidate

He has previously held roles as the co-chair of the Privacy Working Group of INATBA (www.inatba.org) and as a member of the Expert Panel of EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum (www.eublockchainforum.eu).

Zarakowski commented on the appointment: ‘I am delighted to take on this new leadership role as Managing Director at the Association. We have a terrific team and are excited to launch several new projects and developments in 2023. With the technology and infrastructure focus at its core, I am confident that the Association will be able to fulfil its mission to protect the original Bitcoin protocol and empower the builders on BSV.’

Patrick Prinz to join nChain as Chief Operating Officer

Zarakowski will be replacing Patrick Prinz who has taken up the role of Chief Operating Officer at blockchain research and development company nChain.

The Association would like to sincerely thank Patrick for his leadership as Managing Director and wishes him the best in his new position.

Departing Bitcoin Association Managing Director, Patrick Prinz commented: ‘I am leaving the association in the very capable hands of Marcin and look forward to seeing the team continue to consistently pursue our new path. Marcin is highly competent and multidisciplinary. His impressive work ethic and drive to make the right decisions for the BSV ecosystem make him an excellent choice for the Managing Director position.’
