Dr. Craig Wright, nChain’s chief scientist and Bitcoin SV (BSV) intellect, is not happy with the path cryptocurrencies in general are taking. In an effort to help redirect the crypto vision and put things back in order with how they were originally intended, he has become more vocal in publicizing the fact that he is, indeed, Satoshi Nakamoto. He is now made that official with the U.S. Commodity Futures Traiding Commission (CFTC), responding to a request for input (RFI) introduced by the commission regarding crypto assets.
In particular, the CFTC RFI refers to the Federal Register (FR) 64563, Request for Input on Crypto-Asset Mechanics and Markets, which was issued on December 17, 2018. In it, the commission states that it is looking for input that could better help “inform the Commission’s understanding of the technology, mechanics, and markets for virtual currencies beyond Bitcoin, namely here Ether and its use on the Ethereum Network.”
Wright submitted his response to the RFI, opening his remarks by stating, “This is a response in generalized format to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, request for input on crypto asset mechanics and markets. My name is Dr. Craig Wright and under the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto I completed a project I started in 1997 that was filed with the Australian government in part under an AusIndustry project registered with the Dept. of Innovation as BlackNet.
“The amount of misunderstanding and fallacious information that has been propagated concerning bitcoin and any derivative system based on a blockchain (such as and including Ethereum) has resulted in my choice to start to become more public. The system I created was designed in part to end fraud as best as that can be done with any technology. The lack of understanding about the functioning of blockchains has resulted in widespread misinformation and a dissemination of old scams. Many of the former USENET and web IPOs scams have been propagated with the re-badging as an ICO [initial coin offering].”
Wright explains that he will make himself available to be questioned by the CFTC, whether it be to discuss this particular RFI, or any topic related to cryptocurrencies or blockchains. He tells the CFTC that the blockchain can work in conjunction with “existing legislation, statutes and rules” and that anyone who states otherwise is committing fraud.
In signing his response, Wright states clearly that he’s not afraid to get in front of the whole world now and let his true self be known. He closes by stating, “I am willing to testify under oath.”
All of those who have scoffed and attempted to rob Wright of his legitimacy—and rightful place as Satoshi Nakamoto—will soon be left exposed. It’s very likely that all of them will be left red-faced, with their names as tarnished in the industry as they attempted to make Wright’s.
