Bitcoin Cash Social raises crypto awareness in Asia’s rising tiger—Philippines
The Philippines, considered as a rising economic tiger, is said to have a relatively higher rate of acceptance of cryptocurrencies among other countries in Southeast Asia, and is considered second in terms of adoption rate.
There are lots of reasons why the Southeast Asian nation is an “interesting” location to grow adoption for cryptocurrency and its underlying technology, the blockchain. First is demographics. The Philippines is one of the most populous nations in the world, majority of which are millennials. These millennials have been the driving force behind the cryptocurrency awareness in the country.
Second, most Filipinos remain what the Philippine’s central bank described as “unbanked” or those who do not have a deposit account due to insufficient cash for keeping. In 2017, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) revealed that 86 percent of Filipino households do not have bank accounts.
Finally, Filipinos are one of the biggest English speaking nation in the world.
Recognizing the need to educate Filipinos more about cryptocurrency and how they can use it in their day-to-day lives, proponents have launched several creative campaigns about Bitcoin Cash, the only true Bitcoin and the world’s only functional cryptocurrency.
In February, Bitcoin Cash supporters rolled out BCH Jeepney to create awareness about the cryptocurrency in the grass roots level. A jeepney, considered as the most popular public transportation in the Philippines, was used to promote BCH to the masses while roaming around the busy streets of Manila.
CoinGeek, for its part, will be holding its first ever Bitcoin Cash Social in the Philippines as part of raising awareness about cryptocurrency—Bitcoin Cash in particular—and merchant adoption. What makes the Bitcoin Cash Social exciting is that the event comes on the heels of BCH’s network upgrade, which took place last May 15.
A number of cryptocurrency experts, including TheBitcoinDoco creator Dale Dickins, StackTrek founder Billy Yuen, and CoinPoint co-founder Eilon Arad, will be around to provide their expertise on a wide range of topics related to eCommerce, advancements in the BCH technology and the future of the crypto space.
The Bitcoin Cash Social in the Philippines will be held on May 23 at Belle and Dragon in Makati City. Anyone interested in learning more about cryptocurrency is welcome to network and chill at the event, which will start at 7 p.m.

Note: Tokens on the Bitcoin Core (SegWit) chain are referenced as BTC coins; tokens on the Bitcoin Cash ABC chain are referenced as BCH, BCH-ABC or BAB coins.
Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) is today the only Bitcoin project that follows the original Satoshi Nakamoto whitepaper, and that follows the original Satoshi protocol and design. BSV is the only public blockchain that maintains the original vision for Bitcoin and will massively scale to become the world’s new money and enterprise blockchain.
